Using Wikis I use my wiki to post assignments, videos to view, and discussion questions. I also use it as a space for students to collaborate from home. In AP Lit, my seniors can complete a group project in the eveing or during weekends without having to arrange to meet face to face.
The problem I've encountered with my eighth graders is quite a few of them do not ave computers at home, so usig=ng the wiki as part of a homework assignment is not possible.

Using Wikis I agree with Amber - the kids who won't participate in class but have good ideas, can say their piece on the wiki. It also allows for group projects to take place more conveniently out side of school.

Using Wikis I have used my wiki for Marketing I, Marketing II, and Law. For the marketing courses, I have created tables and had students post information. My law students use the discussion feature to talk about various chapter-related topics.
I have found that, especially for the disucssions, the wiki has allowed students to contribute who usually don't participate in class. Many of the discussions are also opinion based. It is interesting to see how students feel about certain topics.

Mrs. Shaffer's English Wiki
This website is designed for the students (and their parents) who are taking one of my English classes at Muncy Jr./Sr. High School. This wiki is the central hub for finding out about lessons and //assignments// throughout the school year. Check back regularly to review the syllabus (//English 12//, //English 12 Lab//, //Speech 9//), get tips from the //study guides//, and ask a question for other students or the instructor.

Using Wikis I like the idea of using wikis with my students. I think it is particularly interesting if we can have our students have a wiki-discussion with students from another school. For example, students could read the same book and then discuss it on the wiki.

Distruction of Property While I love having a laptop cart in my room, I have found that the students do not respect the equipment. Several of the laptops are missing keys and at the end of the day they have usually been put back in a disshuffled way. I have assigned laptops to each student and have restricted use on the computers when I have found a particular computer to be abused. Short of standing over them everyday, I am at a loss as to how I get the students to be more respectful of the equipment. Any suggestions?

Technology & Classroom Management Has anyone noted an increase in on task behavior since we have begun to implement new technologies into our lessons? Do you feel our students are more engaged in our lessons?
